HAMILTON, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2014) – The Saint Francis U men's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 non-conference setback Saturday, falling to Colgate, 4-3.  The Red Flash fell to 3-5 on the spring, while the Raiders improved to 2-0.

"This was a hard fought match and I am proud of the way my guys competed and conducted themselves," said first-year Frankie mentor Rob Castille. "I'm confident that if we continue to work hard and put ourselves in these situations, these close matches will start going our way."

In a decision that needed each and every singles match to decide, the Flash dropped the No. 1 position before rebounding to sweep the Nos. 2-4 spots.

Ridrigo Tico got Saint Francis rolling with a dispatching of Bobby Berkowitz at the No. 2 position.  Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) and Chris Jimenez (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Preparatory) followed suite to make the team score, 3-3, heading into the final match.

Colgate captured the doubles point, but not before the SFU tandem of Washi Gervias and Tico took the No. 1 position, 6-5(6).
