LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis swimming team travels to Boston College this weekend for the two-day Northeast Catholic Invite.  The invite begins on Friday and finishes on Saturday. 
 
The Red Flash placed second out of eight teams at last year's Northeast Catholic Invite, topping Assumption, Iona, Providence, Niagara, Siena and Holy Cross.  This year's field includes Assumption, Boston College, Niagara and Providence.
 
Saint Francis is 1-2 this year after defeating St. Francis Brooklyn, 161-83, last week.  The Red Flash placed first in 12 of the 14 events.
 
The meet began with Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), Emma Karell (Norrtälje, Sweden/Täby Swim Club), Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) and Jessica Reilly combining for a first place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:52.63.  SFU also took second in that event as Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan), Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School), Rory O'Dell (Chapel Hill, N.C./Northwood) and Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) posted a time of 1:53.47.
 
Sophomore Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) won the 100-yard Freestyle (55.59) and the 100-yard Butterfly (1:00.39) events, while Lafferty claimed victories in the 200-yard Butterfly (2:13.15) and 200-yard Backstroke (2:11.70). 
 
Emma Karell (Norrtälje, Sweden/Täby Swim Club) also earned two wins on the day, including the 200-yard Freestyle (1:59.97) and the 200-yard IM (2:14.99).  Rogers took the 50-yard Freestyle (24.99) and the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:33.35).
 
Freshman Jessica Crumm (New Hampton, N.Y./Minisink Valley) won the 100-yard Breaststroke in 1:09.66 and Dieterich won the 100-yard Backstroke in 1:01.57.
