Boston, Mass. – The Saint Francis swim team concluded a their trip to Boston with a second place finish, in invitational format and in dual meet format.
 

A second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay started off the first Saturday session strong. The quartet of Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor), Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School), Jessica Rupp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), and Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) touched the wall in second place with a time of 1:52.61. Saint Francis also had the seventh best performance of the day, in the same event. The team of Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan), Laura Patrick (Lake Charles, La./St. Louis Catholic), Camille Nguyen (Mason, Ohio/Mason), and Emelia Cronshaw (Strafford, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood Academy) combined for a time of 1:55.54.
 

In the 400 Individual Medley, the Flash placed four girls in the top-16. Emma Karell (Norrtälje, Sweden/Täby Swim Club) led the pack, placing fifth. Karell touched the wall in a time 4:45.93. Daly followed closely behind Karell, touching in sixth place. Daly swam a pace of 4:46.68. Laura Patrick (Lake Charles, La./St. Louis Catholic) touched the wall in a time of 4:52.78. Particks' time was the 11 best performance of the day. Placing 16th was Mackenzie Hale (Walla Walla, Wash./Walla Walla), touching in a time of 4:54.48.
 

Rupp, Tiberino, and Nguyen all placed in the top-15 in the 100 Butterfly. Rupp touched the wall in a time of 1:00.25, good for fourth place. Tiberino swam a time of 1:01.61, placing 14th. Following closely behind Tiberino was Nguyen, placing 15th. Nguyen touched the wall in a time of 1:01.66.
 

Quon was the top Red Flash swimmer in the 200 Freestyle, winning the event in a time of 1:56.85.
 

The Red Flash continued their momentum during the 100 Breaststroke, placing three swimmers in the top-six. Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) touched the wall in a time of 1:08.96, a season best time, which placed her second overall. Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) came to the wall in a time of 1:09.52, placing fourth for the Flash. Olivia Fravel (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) rounded out the top-six swimmers, swimming a time of 1:09.84.
 

Once again, the Red Flash had multiple swimmers place in the top-10. This time, in the 100 Backstroke. Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) led the way, touching the wall in a time of 59.01, winning the event. This time broke the meet record set by teammate Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) last season. Daly placed fourth in this event, touching the wall in a time of 1:02.11. Cronshaw and Medvesek battled head to head throughout the entire race. Cronshaw touched the wall in ninth place, with a time of 1:02.71. Medvesek touched the wall in a time of 1:03.05, good for tenth place.
 

The 1000 Freestyle was the mid-point of Saturday's sessions. Karell fought hard for her fifth place finish. She touched the wall in a time of 10:57.87. Also placing in the top-eight was Jacquelyn Rocque (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons). Rocque swam a time of 11:05.06.
 

The second session of the day started off with a record setting swim. Quon swam to a meet record in the 200 Backstroke. Quon touched the wall in a time of 2:09.30, bettering her record setting time from last season. Rupp followed closely, touching the wall in third place. Rupp's time was a 2:11.91, bettering her season best time. Daly was also a top-four finisher for the Flash. Daly touched the wall in a season best time of 2:13.48.
 

Lafferty followed Quon's example and swam to her own meet record in the 100 Freestyle, her second meet record of the day. She swam a time of 53.02. This time is a season best time for Lafferty. Placing eighth was Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High), touching the wall in a time of 55.41.
 

The Red Flash placed five swimmers in the top-12 of the 200 Breaststroke, with each swimmer achieving a season best time. Lawson led the way, placing second, in a time of 2:30.39. O'Neill swam a pace of 2:32.06, good for sixth place. Olivia Fravel (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and Kristen Toth (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) were in a tight battle throughout all 200 yards of racing. Fravel touched the wall in ninth place, with a time of 2:32.56. Toth touched in eleventh place, swimming to a time of 2:33.30. Rounding out the Saint Francis swimmers in the top-12 was Cronshaw. Cronshaw touched the wall in a time of 2:36.01.
 

Rupp and Rocque placed sixth and fourteenth in the 100 Butterfly, respectively. Rupp swam to a season best time of 2:12.20. Rocque swam a time of 2:16.62, dropping nearly two seconds off of her season best time.
 

In the last event of the New England Catholic Invitational, the Red Flash 400 Freestyle relay touched the wall in second place. The quartet of O'Connor, Karell, Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill), and Quon touched the wall in a time of 3:37.84.
 

The Red Flash have next weekend off, but are back in action on October 28th with a home meet against Wagner College.
