Swimming Wins 12 Events in Win Against LIU Brooklyn

Results

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Saint Francis women's swim team dominated against LIU Brooklyn, winning 12 of the14 events contested. The final score of the meet was 159-82.
 

Saint Francis started with a second and third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor), Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), Olivia Fravel (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area), and Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) combined for a time of 1:51.45, for a second place finish. The team of Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan), Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School), Jessica Rupp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), and Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) combined for a third place finish in a time of 1:53.21.
 

The Red Flash took four of the top five spots in the 1000 Freestyle. Emma Karell (Norrtälje, Sweden/Täby Swim Club) led the way in dominating fashion. Karell touched the wall in a time of 10:46.69. This time makes Karell the eighth fastest performer in the conference this season. Jacquelyn Rocque (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) followed behind Karell. Rocque touched the wall in a time of 11:01.39, for second place. Medvesek placed fourth in a time of 11:26.69. O'Dell came to the wall in a time of 11:28.49, good for fifth place.
 

In a tight race in the 200 Freestyle, Quon took the win out-touching her LIU competitor. Quon came to the wall in a time of 1:54.44. This time makes Quon the second fastest performer this season, in the NEC, in this event. Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) touched the wall with a time of 2:00.76, placing third. In fifth place was Emelia Cronshaw (Strafford, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood Academy). Cronshaw touched the wall in a pace of 2:05.55.
 

Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) led the way throughout the 100 Backstroke. She touched the wall in a time of 57.78, winning by four seconds. This time makes Lafferty the fastest performer in the 100 Backstroke in the conference this season, and it also makes her the seventh fastest performer in school history. Daly came to the wall in third place, touching in a time of 1:02.53. Teresa Narduzzi (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) placed fourth for the Flash, with a  of 1:03.47 .
 

The Red Flash dominated in the 100 Breaststroke, taking three of the top four places. Lawson led the way in a time of 1:08.95. Touching in Second was Fravel with a time of 1:09.58. Kristen Toth (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) placed fourth for the Flash in a time of 1:10.45.
 

The Red Flash ladies continued the momentum in the 200 Butterfly. Mackenzie Hale (Walla Walla, Wash./Walla Walla) placed second for the Flash in a time of 2:16.51. Rupp followed closely behind Hale, placing third with a time of 2:16.89. Laura Patrick (Lake Charles, La./St. Louis Catholic) placed fifth for the Flash with a pace of 2:20.48.
 

One of the highlights of the day was a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 Freestyle. O'Neill led the ladies, touching the wall in a time of 25.56. O'Connor followed closely behind placing second with a pace of 25.65. Tiberino touched the wall in a time of 26.18 to place third.
 

Once again, the Red Flash had three girls place in the top four, this time in the 100 Freestyle. Lafferty led the race the entire time, touching the wall in a pace of 53.03. Karell placed second in the 100 Freestyle, in a time of 55.36. O'Neill touched fourth, with a time of 55.98.
 

Quon had another close race, this in the 200 Backstroke. She ultimately came away with the win. She touched the wall in a time of 2:05.46. This take makes her the second fastest performer this season in the NEC.
 

Fravel won the 200 Breaststroke in a time of 2:30.61. This marks Fravel's best time this season.
 

The Red Flash were the only swimmers in the 500 Freestyle today. Lafferty led the way in a time of 5:13.35. This is Lafferty's best time on the season and ranks her sixth in the NEC this season. Karell touched in second place with a time of 5:16.69. This makes Karell the tenth fastest performer in the NEC this season, in this event. Daly placed third in a time of 5:34.01. Cronshaw placed fourth with a time of 5:44.17. Coming in fifth place was Meghan Albertelli (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop). Albertelli touched the wall in a pace of 5:54.63.
 

Tiberino finished first in the 100 Butterfly. She swam a time of 1:00.83. Quon won the 200 Individual Medley in a conference best, and season best, time. She touched the wall in a time of 2:07.80. This time moves Quon up to the sixth fastest performer all time in school history.
 

In the final race of the day, the Red Flash came from behind to take the win. The team of Tiberino, O'Neill, O'Connor, and Lafferty won the 200 Freestyle in a time of 1:39.82.
 

The Red Flash are back in action starting on November 16th at the Magnus Cup Invitational, in Cleveland.
