LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis men's team travels to Eastern PA this weekend for matches at Temple and Lehigh. The Red Flash will battle the Owls on Saturday at 2 p.m. and the Mountain Hawks on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 6-2 this Spring after a 7-0 win over Lafayette last Saturday. SFU did not drop a single set on their way to sweeps in the singles and doubles action.
Sophomore
Jan Vit Suntar (Cerklje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia/Gimnazija Kranj) and freshman
Franz Luna (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Laurel Springs) are tied for the team-lead with seven wins this spring. Suntar is 7-0, playing at No. 4, 5 and 6, while Luna is 7-1 at No. 2. Junior
Alec Dylan Foo-Kune (Phoenix, Mauritius/International Connections Academy (Md.)) is 5-3 at No. 1, while senior
Plamen Avuski (Plovdiv, Bulgaria /Math High School ) is 5-2 at No. 4 and 5.
Freshman
Arturo Dell'eva (Verona, Italy/Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy) is 4-0 this Spring, playing at No. 3 and 4. Senior
Rodrigo Tico (Guadalajara, Mexico/Colegio de Bachilleres) has four wins, playing at No. 3 and 4, while senior
Eli Cerdan (Bloomfield, N.J. /Saint Mary High School) is 3-1 at No. 5 and 6. Sophomore
Robin van der Heijden (Burgh Haamstede, Netherlands/Scheldmond College) is 1-1 at No. 5 and 6.
In doubles, Foo-Kune and Tico are 6-2 at No. 1 and riding a three-match win streak. Luna and Suntar are 2-1 at No. 2, while Avuski and Cerdan are 4-0 at No. 3.
Temple is 4-6 this spring, with wins over Monmouth (6-1), Villanova (5-2), Fairleigh Dickinson (5-2) and UConn (7-0). The Owls fell 4-2 against George Washington on Wednesday and meet Wagner on Friday before taking on Saint Francis on Saturday.
Lehigh is 1-5 in dual matches, with a 5-2 win over Delaware. Last weekend, Lehigh dropped a 5-2 decision against Stony Brook. The Mountain Hawks face Mount St. Mary's on Saturday before meeting SFU on Sunday.
