Staten Island, N.Y.- The Red Flash swim team fell in a valiant effort against the Wagner Seahawks in the first NEC meet of the year by the score of 141-121.

"It was a great meet with a lot of very close races that could have gone either way. Last year, we lost by 40 and this year we only lost by 20. So, we are showing improvement."
Individual Results
In the 200 Medley Relay, the Red Flash quartet of Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's), Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School), Julia Bradford (Edinboro, Pa./Villa Maria Academy ) and Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) swam into second place (1:50.71) only a second behind the leaders.
Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School) placed first in the 1000 Freestyle with a total time of 10:55.54.
Junior Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) finished first (1:55.31) in the 200 Freestyle.
Urska Medvesek (Maribor, Slovenia/Gymnasium Maribor), placing fourth (1:02.01), was the highest placing Red Flash swimmer in the 100 Backstroke,
Saint Francis recovered to claim the top two spots in the 100 Breaststroke as Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished first (1:08.54) and Mackenzie Lawson (Charlottesville, Va./The Covenant School) placed second (1:09.20).
Jessica Rupp (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) finished second (2:14.40) in the 200 Butterfly.
In the 50 Freestyle, Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High) earned third place (25:46) only 0.33 seconds behind the leader.
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) continued her strong season with a first place finish (52.86) in the 100 Freestyle.
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) claimed her second win of the meet in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:07.51.
Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) placed bronze (2:31.68) in the 200 Breaststroke.
Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School) continued her strong showing with a second place finish (5:21.44) in the 500 Freestyle.
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's), once again, shined in the 100 Butterfly (57.26) by finishing more than two seconds over the second place swimmer.
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) won her third event of the meet by racing to a time of 2:11.07 in the 200 IM.
The foursome of Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's), Katelyn O'Connor (Torrance, Calif./South High), Julia Bradford (Edinboro, Pa./Villa Maria Academy ) and Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) clinched second place on a time of 3:37.59 in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
