LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis swimming team, led by Head Coach
Rory Coleman, hosts Wagner on Saturday at Noon for an NEC meet at the Stokes Natatorium. The meet, originally scheduled for 1 p.m., has been moved up to a Noon start.
The Red Flash is 5-5 overall and 1-2 in conference meets this season. The team returns to action after being off last week. The previous week, SFU dropped a 140-121 decision at LIU Brooklyn. Wagner enters the meet with a 4-2 mark overall, including 1-0 in the NEC.
Sophomore
Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), a two-time NEC Swimmer of the Week, holds top five times in the conference this year in the 50 Freestyle (24.45), 100 Freestyle (53.50), 200 Freestyle (1:54.19) and 500 Freestyle (5:08.68). Lafferty won the 200 (1:54.19) and 500 Freestyle in the meet at LIU Brooklyn.
Fellow sophomore
Emma Karell (Norrtälje, Sweden/Täby Swim Club) owns the conference's top time in the 400 IM (4:42.81). Karell also holds top five times in the 200 Butterfly (2:11.99) and 200 IM (2:13.10). The Sweden native won the 1000 Freestyle (1:51.87) at LIU Brooklyn. She also earned top three finishes in the 200 Breaststroke (2:27.89) and 200 IM (2:13.51).
Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary), a junior, picked up top-two finishes at LIU Brooklyn in the 200 Freestyle (2:01.66) and 500 Freestyle (5:23.51). Senior
Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) finished second in the 100 Backstroke (1:01.13) and 200 Backstroke (2:12.71).
Lafferty, McLean, Jessica Reilly and
Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) combined for a win in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:48.49, while Karell, Lafferty, Reilly and
Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) placed second in the 400 Freestyle with a pace of 3:37.34.
Wagner's Anu Nihipali owns the top time in the conference in the 100 Backstroke (55.94) and 100 Butterfly (57.05), while Amanda Lucia has the top time in the 200 Butterfly (2:06.39).
