PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Saint Francis swimming team has set a new program-record with 11 dual meets this season after earning two dual meet wins at Saturday's Western PA Invitational, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh. The Red Flash is now 11-8 this season.

Saint Francis earned wins over California University(Pa.) (192-58) and Clarion (191-86) to reach the 11-win mark. SFU fell 246-47 against Pitt, 179-113 against Carnegie Mellon and 172-84 against Duquesne.

The Red Flash has reached 10 wins in a season five times in program history, most recently in 2014-15. Saint Francis has finished the regular season with a winning record the last four seasons, all under the leadership of Head Coach
Rory Coleman.

The meet began with the 200-yard Medley Relay. Junior
Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), freshman
Erin O'Neill (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), senior
Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) and freshman
Karilyn Quon (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol) combined for a fifth-place finish, with a time of 1:49.42.

The Red Flash placed two in the Top 10 of the 1000-yard Freestyle. Sophomore
Fallon Nelson (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) led SFU with a time of 11:20.11 to finish seventh. Right behind Nelson was junior
Kasey Marks (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) in eighth, with a time of 11:21.75. Finishing just outside of the Top 10, in 11th, was sophomore
Shelby Sanko (McAdoo, Pa./Hazleton Area), who touched the wall in 12:15.15.

In the 200-yard Freestyle, Quon earned a fourth-place finish, posting a time of 1:56.16. Lafferty came in ninth, with a time of 1:58.28, while Graziano placed 14th, with a pace of 2:03.36.

Freshman
Aimee Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) was SFU's top finisher in the 100-yard Backstroke. She posted a time of 59.90. Fellow rookie
Sabrina Bowman (Vandergrift, Pa./Saint Joseph's) placed eighth, touching the wall in 1:00.33, while Daly finished 15th, with a time of 1:02.72.

O'Neill recorded a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke as the freshman posted a time of 1:07.96. Crumm claimed 11th, with a pace of 1:08.51, while Patrick placed 15th, with a time of 1:09.93.

Karell earned a Top 10 finish in the 200-yard Butterfly, recording a time of 2:14.84 to place eighth.

In the 50-yard Freestyle, Bowman led the Red Flash with a time of 25.39 to place 13th. Baur touched the wall in 25.56 to finish 15th, while freshman
Kristen Toth (Silver Spring, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) claimed 16th, with a time of 25.61.

Tiberino posted SFU's top time in the 100-yard Freestyle, finishing 14th with a pace of 55.99. Toth was right behind in 15th, with a time of 56.12, while sophomore
Amanda Crnic (Conway, Ark./Conway) was 20th, with a pace of 57.51.

In the 200-yard Backstroke, Baur placed ninth to lead the Red Flash, with a time of 2:10.70. Daly posted a time of 2:14.80 to place 14th and O'Dell was 16th, with a time of 2:15.09.

The Red Flash placed three swimmers in the Top Seven of the 200-yard Breaststroke, led by Karell's time of 2:28.53, which was good for fourth. O'Neill recorded a time of 2:28.84 to place fifth and Patrick was seventh, touching the wall in 2:30.04.

Saint Francis then finished with three swimmers in the Top Seven of the 500-yard Freestyle. Quon earned second place, recording a time of 5:10.68. Lafferty followed in third, posting a time of 5:17.50. Graziano claimed seventh, with a pace of 5:23.34.Â

Tiberino was SFU's first finisher in the 100-yard Butterfly, with a time of 1:01.76. Freshman
Teresa Narduzzi (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) placed 20th, with a pace of 1:06.48.

In the 200-yard IM, Quon came in ninth with SFU's top time, 2:12.44. McLean finished 11th, with a time of 2:14.09, while Patrick was 17th, with a pace of 2:18.86.

The last event of the meet was the 200-yard Freestyle Relay. SFU's team of Lafferty, Tiberino, O'Neill and Baur placed fourth, recording a time of 1:39.49.

Bowman, Graziano, Crnic and Toth placed 11th, posting a time of 1:43.47.

The Red Flash will conclude the 2016-17 season at the NEC Championships on February 15-18 in Cambridge, Mass.
