Saint Francis University Athletics Hall of Fame
Barb Miller was the first true star Red Flash women’s basketball player.
Ms. Miller wasted little time establishing herself in Loretto, averaging 11.9 points per game as a freshman in 1983-84. She went on to lead the team in scoring two of the next three seasons, and averaged 15.7 points per game as a senior in 1986-87. She finished her career as the all-time leading scorer in Saint Francis College women’s basketball history with 1,366 points. Only four players have surpassed her scoring total in the 15 years since then. She is one of only 11 players to score more than 1,000 points for the Red Flash.
In addition to ranking fifth all-time at Saint Francis in scoring, she currently ranks fourth in field goals made (597), seventh in blocks (46), and 12th in assists (224). As a senior, she was presented the Wallace Award, presented to the top female athlete at Saint Francis. Ms. Miller was also an outstanding student, earning Dean’s list and regional Academic All-American honors.
Saint Francis College is proud to honor Barb Miller Gilliland with induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame on this date, Friday, July 30, 1999.
