Hamilton is the third leading scorer in program history, finishing his career with 1,810 career points and a scoring average of 16.5 points per game over his four seasons.

The Washington D.C. native led Saint Francis in scoring in each of his four seasons with the Red Flash, culminating with a career-high scoring average of 19.0 ppg as a senior during the 1984-85 season which landed him on the AP Honorable Mention All-American Team. Maurice Stokes was the only player previous to be recognized as an AP All-American, making Third Team All-American in 1955. Hamilton was the last player to earn the honor until Keith Braxton did so this season.

Hamilton was also a prolific rebounder, leading SFU in rebounding in his final two seasons. He currently ranks 16th in program history with 711 career rebounds.

A member of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette District College All-Star Team after the 1983-84 season, Hamilton twice earned ECAC Metro All-Conference honors. He was named the  Saint Francis's J. Irving Whalley Award recipient as a senior, given to the top male athlete at the University.
