One of the best men’s basketball players at Saint Francis during the 1970’s, Clarence Hopson joins the 2015 class after a decorated career. Hopson shot 50.9 percent from the field during his three-year career, and he finished with 1,148 points. Hopson currently ranks 24th on the school’s all-time scoring list as one of just 39 players in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Hopson led the team in scoring and rebounding during both the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons. The 1973-74 team finished 15-11, a 10-win improvement over the previous year’s win total. That team finished the season with a 16-point home victory against Georgetown as head coach Pete Lonergan wrapped up his first year as the Saint Francis head coach.

He finished his Saint Francis career with a 14.9 points-per-game average, including a career-high 16.2 points per game during the 1971-72 campaign. That season, he connected on 59 percent of his shots, a career high.
