Paul Dumm grew up- literally – on the Donald Ross – designed Immergrun Golf Course at Saint Francis under the watchful eye of veteran Red Flash Golf Professional and Head Men’s Coach Bob Hahn. Little wonder, then, that he would proceed to become one of the finest golfers in school history.

“I lived at the golf course when I was very small,” state Mr. Dumm. “My dad would drop me off in the morning. The whole day I would work with Bob doing the jobs that had to be done around the golf course. In return, I got Bob’s counsel, his guidance and his assistance with my golf game.”

That guidance and assistance, coupled with Mr. Dumm’s talent and ability, propelled Bob Hahn’s pupil to unprecedented success on the links of Loretto. He compiled a perfect 36-0 record in dual-match competition during his collegiate career, directing the Red Flash to four consecutive winning seasons.

As a senior in 1983, Mr. Dumm led the program to its most successful season ever, captaining the team to a 7-0 record. On August 13 of that memorable season, Mr. Dumm broke the course record at Immergrun, firing an eight-under-par 64. Twenty years later, his record still stands.

Saint Francis College is proud to honor Paul Dumm with induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame on this date, Saturday, December 6, 2003.
