Colleen Curley- Marek knows rebounding.

Ms. Curley was the first truly dominant rebounder in Saint Francis women’s basketball history. She never averaged less than 11 rebounds a game in each of her four seasons in Loretto, graduating from the University with a then-school record of 1,174 boards. That total currently ranks second in school history.

Ms. Curley exploded onto the scene as a freshman in the 1978-79 season, grabbing 345 rebounds (15.7 rebounds per game). She led her team on the boards an incredible 63 times in 86 career games and grabbed 20-or0more caroms in a contest 12 times, including a school-record 24 rebounds on three occasions.

The native of Johnstown was also a quite capable scorer and currently ranks ninth all-time at Saint Francis with 1,133 points. Saint Francis’ first-ever player to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, Ms. Curley averaged at least 11 points a game every season, and sported a 17.2 scoring average during her sophomore campaign.

Ms. Curley’s talents were also evident on the volleyball court at Saint Francis, where she starred as a middle hitter and possessed one of the most consistent serves in Red Flash women’s volleyball history. She earned Pennwood West Conference all star honors in both volleyball and basketball.

Saint Francis College is proud to honor Colleen Curley- Marek with induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame on this date, Friday, July 27, 2001.
